Yo Yo Yo (Bye Bye Bye)

We're moving up into the stratosphere, so every thing's moved to the new site! Go there and rock out hard!

Moths (courtesy of C. Neil Scott)

the lesson of the moth

By Don Marquis (from "archy and mehitabel" 1927)

i was talking to a moth
the other evening
he was trying to break into
an electric light bulb
and fry himself on the wires

why do you fellows
pull this stunt i asked him
because it is the conventional
thing for moths or why
if that had been an uncovered
candle instead of an electric
light bulb you would
now be a small unsightly cinder
have you no sense

plenty of it he answered
but at times we get tired
of using it
we get bored with the routine
and crave beauty
and excitement
fire is beautiful
and we know that if we get
too close it will kill us
but what does that matter
it is better to be happy
for a moment
and be burned up with beauty
than to live a long time
and be bored all the while
so we wad all our life up
into one little roll
and then we shoot the roll
that is what life is for
it is better to be a part of beauty
for one instant and then cease to
exist than to exist forever
and never be a part of beauty
our attitude toward life
is come easy go easy
we are like human beings
used to be before they became
too civilized to enjoy themselves

and before i could argue him
out of his philosophy
he went and immolated himself
on a patent cigar lighter
i do not agree with him
myself i would rather have
half the happiness and twice
the longevity

but at the same time i wish
there was something i wanted
as badly as he wanted to fry himself

Admire my Plumes

No matter what your specialty is, it's important to take inspiration from as many sources as humanly possible. Color schemes from peanut butter jars, Harmonies from mathematical sequences, Sculpture materials from the junkyard, etc. It's all about throwing it all together with a bit of hot glue gun action. That's why you've got to take a look at the Lyre Bird

Retrospective of the Lyre Bird

This is really inspiring to me. I'm gonna work some more on my camera with a motor drive impression.

Cambodia Rocks!

As the Summer days stretch on and on, we need more and more to entertain us here at Platypussy Records. Time to stretch out those roots and expand on previous obsessions... like Sublime Frequencies.

Don't Think I've Forgotten

Above is a clip from a documentary film on the music of Cambodia during the 60s and 70s. There's already several stellar releases on the subject, and I'll vouch that it's one of the hottest 'unexplored' territories in World Music. So can't we give the mightly Djembe drum a rest and get spiritual with some electric guitar? Hopefully we'll see a release on this film soon, but until then I'm left drooling. But here's some newer karaoke videos to sing along with until that time.

No. 1 Music Video (Masturbation?)

We're just reaching for the sky here.

Spank The Monkey by Skot Walden

But what about dildos? I've got your answer right here with a close number 2 best video featuring masturbation.

You're not a Torry, are you?

Now that the Masturbation is catching on like wildfire among our nation's youths, there's only one question left to answer. Where are they learning about Masturbation?

Wanker World

It's not just the kids though. Masturbation is affecting all levels of our society, from rich to poor. If you don't believe me, just take a look at this video from an up and coming star, possibly related to the one and only Joe Roberts.

Honorable Mention

Not a Top 5 masturbation song. Maybe not a masturbation song at all. But close on both counts.

Speaking of art house animations

If you haven't had a chance to see "The Animation Show", compiled by Don Hertzfeld and Mike Judge, consider yourself eagerly encouraged. The film below is on volume one, as are the following by Adam Elliot, and they are incredible. There is another called "Uncle", but I can't find it anywhere online.
